The Republican People's Party (CHP) Central Executive Board (MYK) and Party Assembly (PM) meetings will convene today under the chairmanship of Chairman Özgür Özel.
General evaluations of the year 2024 will be conducted at the meetings to be held at the CHP Headquarters.
According to Birgün, following the MYK meeting that began at 11:15, CHP leader Özel will deliver a speech at the opening of the PM at 13:30.
Subsequently, the PM, which will continue in a closed session, will also address the 'amnesty requests' of 28 former members who were previously expelled from the party.
Among those requesting 'amnesty' is former Deputy Speaker of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey Yılmaz Ateş. According to the CHP bylaws, the PM will make its decisions regarding 'amnesty' files via secret ballot.
The meeting will also address regulation changes prepared within the framework of the amendments made at the Bylaw Convention.
Yılmaz Ateş was expelled from the party by the decision of the High Disciplinary Board (YDK) on February 10, 2020, on the grounds that he had criticized the CHP during a television program he attended.
