CHP's Party Charter Congress agenda: 'primary elections' and 'three-term limit'
The 20th Extraordinary Congress, which the Republican People's Party (CHP) will hold to discuss and finalize amendments to its party charter, will take place at the ATO Congresium on September 6, 7, and 8. Primary elections and the three-term limit are expected to be the prominent topics at the congress.

Preparations are in the final stages for the congress where the CHP will amend its party charter under the slogan "Congress of Change."
According to AA reports, the congress will first have a symbolic start in Sivas on Wednesday, September 4, the 105th anniversary of the Sivas Congress. CHP Chairman Özgür Özel and his delegation will attend the official ceremony to be held at 10:00 AM.
Following this, a meeting will be held with the participation of Party Assembly (PM) members and provincial chairs. Subsequently, meetings of the Central Executive Board (MYK) and the PM will take place.
CHARTER COMMISSION TO HOLD FINAL MEETING ON SEPTEMBER 5
As part of the congress to be held in Ankara, the charter commission, which will include representatives from 81 provinces, officials from the parliamentary group and headquarters, and legal experts, will hold its final meeting on Thursday, September 5. The report to be prepared at the end of the meeting will be presented to the congress on Friday, September 6.
While accommodation and transportation arrangements have been provided for delegates arriving from different provinces, preparations for posters, brochures, banners, and video clips have also been completed.
The congress will officially begin on Friday, September 6. The congress, where opening speeches will be delivered at 11:00 AM, will continue with the adoption of decisions regarding the charter articles and the voting process.
It was noted that the congress could be completed on the same day or, depending on the situation, continue on September 7-8. Following this, the CHP's new party charter will be finalized.
While areas have been designated for members of the press on the floor where the congress will be held, no accreditation process will be applied.
According to the ongoing schedule, a Program Workshop will be held on September 7-8 to determine a comprehensive party program intended to prepare the party for the future.
Subsequently, a visit will be made to Anıtkabir, the eternal resting place of Gazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, on Monday, September 9, in honor of the party's founding anniversary.
The grave of the Second President, İsmet İnönü, will also be visited there. Visits will also be paid to the graves of the party's former chairmen Bülent Ecevit and Deniz Baykal.
CONGRESS AGENDA
Among the intra-party demands that will be clarified by the CHP Charter Commission's report, primary elections and the three-term limit stand out.
At the congress, it will be proposed that parliamentary and mayoral candidates be determined through primary elections by members registered with the party. The method of selection under judicial supervision will also be included in the candidate determination process via primary elections.
The three-term limit, which is on the agenda to be introduced for members of parliament and mayors, will also be raised at the congress. If included in the new charter, the provisions regarding the term limit will not affect current members of parliament and will become effective after the next general elections.
In addition to gender, age, and professional quotas, strengthening the representation of people with disabilities within the party will also be among the topics on the agenda.
