CHP reacts to Constitutional Commission chair over summary of proceedings

CHP Group Deputy Chair Murat Emir has issued sharp criticism after TBMM Constitutional Commission Chair Serap Yazıcı Özbudun failed to forward the summary of proceedings regarding the lifting of legislative immunity for CHP Chairman Özgür Özel to the opposition. Stating that this situation is contrary to the constitution and internal regulations, Emir said, "The summary of proceedings must be forwarded to us as soon as possible."

In his statement, Emir emphasized that the summary of proceedings sent to the Constitutional Commission regarding Özgür Özel should be forwarded to the CHP group. Emir stated, "We made a request on August 5 for the summary of proceedings to be provided to us. However, Ms. Özbudun is delaying this request for various reasons and has indicated that she will continue to delay it because she is currently not in Ankara."

Murat Emir expressed that this stance by Özbudun constitutes an overreach of authority and is unbecoming of a constitutional law professor, adding, "This behavior is contrary to the constitution and internal regulations. It is unacceptable for Özbudun to withhold this authority when the summary of proceedings should be sent immediately." Emir called on Özbudun to act in accordance with the constitution and internal regulations.
