CHP reacts to former AKP deputy 'Yeliz' over 'Republic' remarks: 'This nation will throw you into the dustbin of history'

Former AKP Istanbul deputy Ahmet Hamdi Çamlı targeted the proclamation of the Republic in a post on the social media platform X. Çamlı stated, "A noble nation and a great state with an ancient history cannot advance on the path to a new, terror-free, and great state without reckoning and making peace with the bloody 1923 coup."

While Çamlı's words caused a wide stir in public opinion, they also triggered harsh reactions in political circles.

Former AKP deputy Ahmet Hamdi Çamlı shared on his personal X (formerly Twitter) account: "A noble nation and a great state with an ancient history cannot advance on the path to a new, terror-free, and great state without reckoning and making peace with the bloody 1923 coup. A whistle should be blown, and a new, honorable, and clean page should be turned."

These statements drew significant backlash from the public.

CHP Group Deputy Chairman Murat Emir made the following statement regarding Çamlı's remarks:

- "You may have risen from being Erdoğan's driver to a deputy, but you are miles away from the morality required to cast aspersions on this nation's history and the values of the Republic. You are not a deputy, but a provocateur who openly shows hostility toward the Republic of Turkey.

- Where are those who bring indictments and launch investigations even for baseless claims? Why are you not initiating proceedings under TCK 301 and 216 against this insolent person who insults Atatürk, his comrades-in-arms, and the founding will of the Republic by calling it the '1923 coup'?

- Declaring our current state illegitimate by saying 'new, terror-free state' means challenging the constitutional order and the nation. This rhetoric is identical to FETÖ's 'new state construction' discourse on July 15. This nation founded the Republic with its blood and soul.

- A new state, indeed! This state has been invincible for 100 years; this nation will throw you into the dustbin of its glorious history. Have no doubt, this nation will bury both you and those who brought you here into the dark pages of history."

'IT HAS BEEN 16 HOURS AND THERE IS NO RESPONSE'

CHP Deputy Chairman Burhanettin Bulut also said, "It is actually unnecessary to take the ravings of a madman seriously and respond. But since Turkey is a state of law, let's see if the judiciary, which works at jet speed against dissidents, will be able to hold him accountable for this nonsense. It has been 16 hours and there is no response."
