CHP responds to DSP claims that stirred political circles

While the "absolute nullity" debates that began after the CHP's 38th Ordinary Congress continue, claims regarding a "proposal to take over the party" directed at the DSP have come to the fore. CHP Group Deputy Chairman Murat Emir, who is at the center of the allegations, stated that the meeting in question was merely a friendly conversation and denied the claims, saying, "I have no proposal to take over the DSP, and it is clear that making such a proposal would be considered extremely rude."

Following the "absolute nullity" decision regarding the Republican People's Party's (CHP) 38th congress, the developments continue to maintain their place on the agenda.

Claims put forward by TGRT Haber Ankara Representative Fatih Atik, who is close to the government, that "the CHP administration contacted the Democratic Left Party (DSP) and wanted to take over the management of the DSP" have sparked debate.

According to the allegations, it was claimed that contact was made with a member of CHP leader Özgür Özel's team and a proposal was conveyed to the DSP saying, "Hand the party over to us." It was also reported in the public sphere that DSP Chairman Önder Aksakal stated that the proposal was conveyed through CHP Group Deputy Chairman Murat Emir and that their party rejected this suggestion.

The response from the CHP front was not delayed. Murat Emir clarified the allegations in a statement he made on social media. Emir stated that the meeting took place in an office setting with Deputy Chairman İbrahim Yumuşak over tea in a friendly atmosphere, and noted that the conversation also covered the current political crisis. Emir used the following expressions in his statement:

"There is a need to inform the public due to the exaggerated speculations made over a meeting. I had a friendly conversation with Deputy Chairman Mr. İbrahim Yumuşak in his own office over a cup of tea, which also included the political crisis we are experiencing. I have no proposal to take over the DSP, and it is clear that making such a proposal would be considered extremely rude. It is possible that Chairman Önder Aksakal may have misunderstood the matter. No one should have any doubt that we will not hand the CHP over to the Palace against any kind of lawlessness and injustice, and that we will fight to the end."
