CHP Erzincan MP Mustafa Sarıgül visited Ekrem İmamoğlu and Zafer Party Chairman Ümit Özdağ at Silivri Prison. Making a statement after the visit, Sarıgül noted that new prisons are constantly being built, but this has not reduced crime rates. Stating that İmamoğlu delivered a message of unity and solidarity regarding the CHP's Extraordinary Convention to be held on Sunday, Sarıgül said the following:
"I was in Silivri on the eve of the holiday, and now that the holiday is over, I am in Silivri again. Unfortunately, Turkey entered the holiday in Silivri. Silivri has become Turkey, and Turkey has become Silivri. We are going through days where even fortune tellers are being arrested. It is as if everyone is flocking to Silivri. Politicians, mayors, academics, lawyers, and young people are currently in Silivri. We long for a Turkey where young people are not in prison and where the national will is strengthened. We truly long for a Turkey where consciences are not pained and mothers and fathers do not cry. I have hope. One must not forget: No matter how high the mountains are, the sunrise cannot be prevented.
In prisons with a capacity of 300 thousand, there are currently far more inmates than this capacity. New prisons are constantly being built in Turkey. I wish workplaces were built instead of those prisons so that crime rates would drop. In the 10th Judicial Package, 'fate prisoners' (those imprisoned due to circumstances) had significant expectations; the 9th Judicial Package did not find enough of a solution. Once again, from Silivri Prison, I say 'forgive, my Turkey,' for those who have been wronged, to soothe the longing of mothers, and to make children happy. I call out to all our group chairmen from my compassionate, broad-hearted state, without regard for any political party difference: Let us hear the voice of the 'fate prisoners.' The 'fate prisoners' no longer have the patience to wait. I believe that parliament will come together and carry out a comprehensive study.
"WE MUST NOT HAVE ANY DIVISIONS WHILE DANGER PASSES BY US"
Before the convention, our President Ekrem İmamoğlu desires a unifying and inclusive effort and says, 'We must be heart to heart.' He says, 'Our desire is for the nation and the justice system to be strong. In this convention, we must ensure a great unity without any ifs or buts. We must not have any divisions while danger passes by us; we must be soul to soul and together. We must be together.' He expressed that we must be inclusive. He said, 'I very much desire that a great unity and solidarity, and days where Turkey prepares for power, emerge from the Republican People's Party convention on Sunday,' and I convey Mr. İmamoğlu's greetings and love to all our citizens in our Turkey, without regard for any political difference.”
"WHY HAS MY INDICTMENT NOT BEEN PREPARED?"
Stating that he also met with Ümit Özdağ, Sarıgül conveyed that Özdağ said, "Why has my indictment not been prepared? I want to be tried. What is my crime, why am I here? I want to know what I did that would constitute a suspicion of a crime. I want my indictment to be prepared and to be tried." Sarıgül also mentioned that Özdağ does not accept the meals provided by the Ministry and eats food from the canteen.
CHP Erzincan MP Mustafa Sarıgül, who visited CHP's presidential candidate Ekrem İmamoğlu at the Marmara Closed Prison in Silivri where he is being held, made the statement: "Before the convention, our President Ekrem İmamoğlu desires a unifying and inclusive effort and says, 'We must be heart to heart.' He says, 'Our desire is for the nation and the justice system to be strong. In this convention, we must ensure a great unity without any ifs or buts.
