CHP submits parliamentary question regarding soldiers who lost their lives in Hatay

CHP Çanakkale Deputy Özgür Ceylan has submitted a parliamentary question to the Grand National Assembly of Turkey (TBMM) for Minister of National Defense Yaşar Güler to answer regarding the deaths of Private Hayrullah Halit Karaman and Private Semih Erdoğan, who lost their lives due to multiple organ failure resulting from severe dehydration in Hatay.

Ceylan questioned the reason why the soldiers were kept under the sun for a long period and how health services were provided during the incident.

HARSH CRITICISM FROM CHP

Members of the CHP's National Defense Commission made harsh criticisms regarding the incident.

The members stated, "You have turned the TSK into Karbala. In this day and age, do the children of the nation entrusted to the state die of thirst?" They also raised allegations that the soldiers had difficulty accessing drinking water and were forced to buy water from the canteen.

CHP Chairman Özgür Özel called for the establishment of a commission in the TBMM, stating that the incident occurred as a result of a chain of negligence and that the source of this negligence must be identified.

Özel emphasized that the pain of similar incidents that occurred previously is still fresh.

The CHP also announced that they would submit a research motion to the Office of the Speaker of the TBMM in order to identify those responsible for the deaths of the two soldiers and to clarify all aspects of the incident.
