CHP takes action... A new step for closed military hospitals!
CHP Group Deputy Chairs Murat Emir, Gökhan Günaydın, and Ali Mahir Başarır have submitted a joint legislative proposal to the Grand National Assembly of Turkey (TBMM) for the reopening of military hospitals that were closed following the July 15 coup attempt.

The Republican People's Party (CHP) has taken action to reopen military hospitals that were closed after the July 15 FETÖ coup attempt.
A joint legislative proposal prepared by CHP Group Deputy Chairs Murat Emir, Gökhan Günaydın, and Ali Mahir Başarır has been submitted to the Grand National Assembly of Turkey (TBMM).
It was stated that the proposal was prepared last week and was registered by the TBMM Department of Laws and Decisions on Monday.
It was noted that the proposal, which was announced to the public today, was submitted before the statements made by MHP Chairman Devlet Bahçeli on the subject.
“THE MILITARY HEALTH SYSTEM IS THE RESILIENCE OF THE ARMY”
In the general justification of the legislative proposal, it was emphasized that the operational power of the Turkish Armed Forces (TSK) is directly linked not only to armed elements but also to the existence of a military health system.
The following assessments were included in the justification:
Military medicine covers specialized fields such as war surgery, CBRN (chemical, biological, radiological, nuclear) warfare health, field surgery, and military psychology, and in this respect, it cannot be replaced by civilian health services.
It was stated that the transfer of 25 military hospitals, primarily GATA, to the Ministry of Health with the Decree-Law (KHK) No. 669 issued after the July 15 coup attempt led to an institutional liquidation unprecedented in the history of the Republic.
It was noted that during this process, more than 2 thousand military doctors and health personnel were pushed out of the system, and the institutional capacity in the field of war surgery was almost destroyed.
It was stated that Turkey has become the only NATO country without a military hospital and that this situation creates a serious vulnerability in terms of national security.
GATA TO BE RE-ESTABLISHED
The legislative proposal submitted by the CHP envisions the re-establishment of the Gülhane Military Medical Academy (GATA).
According to the regulation, it is planned that all military health institutions transferred to the Ministry of Health and the University of Health Sciences be returned to the Ministry of National Defense.
The proposal also included the following regulations:
The transfer of students back to GATA,
The transfer of military health personnel to the Turkish Armed Forces staff,
The transfer of movable and immovable property, appropriations, and budgets to the structure of GATA.
