Republican People's Party (CHP) leader Özgür Özel announced during his speech at his party's extraordinary convention that they would hold a rally to support Palestine. Özel invited all political parties and citizens to gather in front of the Palestinian Embassy in Eyüpsultan on Wednesday evening. He stated that both Turkish and Palestinian flags would be carried at the rally.

Özel stated that this rally would take place before the meeting between AKP President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and Donald Trump in the United States. Criticizing the Erdoğan-Trump meeting, Özel claimed that this encounter was shaped by lobbying firms and promises of aircraft orders given to the Boeing company.

Drawing attention to Bloomberg's report that "Boeing could receive over 250 orders next week," Özel stated that these orders meant the meeting was finalized. Özel said, "If one is going to Trump, if one is going to stand before him, the Palestinian issue must be spoken about clearly, and it must be shouted to Trump that Palestine is Turkey's national cause."

Özel reiterated his call for the rally with these words: "Instead of party flags, we invite all party members and everyone who stands in solidarity with Palestine to Eyüpsultan, in front of the Palestinian Embassy, to show solidarity with Turkish and Palestinian flags."
