Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (İBB) Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu and Memleket Party Chairman Muharrem İnce reportedly met on Friday, December 1.
"THE ISSUE OF ALLIANCE WAS DISCUSSED"
Journalist İsmail Saymaz, providing information about the meeting on Sözcü TV, said, "Muharrem İnce had made a call to the entire opposition a few weeks ago. The first of these was a call for ballot box security and cooperation. This call found a response within the CHP. As far as I have learned, İmamoğlu and Muharrem İnce met last Friday. The issue of an alliance was also discussed in this meeting."
According to BirGün, Muharrem İnce, speaking to Saymaz, confirmed the meeting and said, "We discussed the issue of cooperation in the election."
Saymaz reported that İnce told İmamoğlu during the meeting, "You won Istanbul with a margin of 13 thousand votes. The Memleket Party, even though its presidential candidate did not enter the election, received over 100 thousand votes in Istanbul. Therefore, these votes will also have an impact on winning Istanbul."
"I AM OPEN TO THE COOPERATION PROPOSAL"
Stating, "Of course, I look favorably upon cooperation," İnce said, "I do not want the strongholds held by the opposition to fall into the hands of the AK Party. My heart would not allow it. In this respect, I am open to the cooperation proposal. We will meet again next week."
CANDIDACY FROM İZMİR
Saymaz also stated that he heard Muharrem İnce might be offered a candidacy for the İzmir Metropolitan Municipality Mayoralty. Noting that he asked Muharrem İnce about the claim, Saymaz reported that İnce said, "It has not been offered, but it has reached my ears."
