CHP's 'Justice Vigil' in Parliament continues: 'We take turns eating so they don't lock the door'

The 'Justice Vigil' initiated by the CHP in Parliament continues following the Court of Cassation's refusal to comply with the Constitutional Court's ruling regarding imprisoned TİP Deputy Can Atalay and its filing of a criminal complaint against the members of the Constitutional Court.
It has been learned that journalists are not being allowed to enter the press gallery of the TBMM General Assembly hall, which CHP deputies are keeping occupied to prevent the possibility of the door being locked.
12-HOUR SHIFTS
According to a report by Saygı Öztürk from Sözcü; deputies are speaking via video calls with television journalists who reach out to them and are answering questions directed at them. Deputies who begin their shift at 08:30 hand over the vigil to their colleagues at 20:30. The vigil continues uninterrupted in shifts. CHP Niğde Deputy Ömer Fethi Gürer described what is happening during the deputies' 12-hour shifts.
"WE TAKE TURNS GOING TO EAT"
Gürer said the following regarding the Justice Vigil:
“We do not leave the General Assembly hall empty during the vigil. We take turns leaving when we need to eat something. We generally eat simit, pastries, or toast, and drink tea from the tea house. Those who leave to drink tea or eat something return immediately. Then, our other colleagues leave. The reason is this: We suspect that if no one remains in the hall, the door will be locked immediately. We do not leave so as not to allow this to happen.”
Gürer stated that even those whose rights have been taken away remain silent and that society has been intimidated, continuing as follows:
JOURNALISTS ARE NOT ALLOWED IN
“Apart from sending us emails, no one is showing any reaction. Citizens do not think that one day their own rights will be taken away, or that even the right to property will become meaningless. This is becoming a warning, a reminder form of action. Society is not sufficiently aware of our action. Because members of the press are not being allowed into the general assembly gallery. Therefore, it is not possible for it to spread to the public. The party leader also connected to the general assembly via phone. If the press could film it, it would be possible to make it more widely known.”
