Following the appointment of a trustee to the Hakkari Municipality, while protests continue, a notable statement has come from AKP Amasya MP Haluk İpek.
İpek said, "Around 30 individuals with the potential to receive criminal convictions were nominated as candidates by the DEM Party."
According to a report by Gazete Duvar, AKP Amasya MP Haluk İpek claimed in his speech at Parliament that the DEM Party nominated individuals facing various investigations and lawsuits with the intention of creating chaos. Regarding Can Atalay, who was nominated in the 2023 elections and later had his parliamentary membership revoked due to a finalized sentence, İpek said, "Can Atalay was made a candidate because it was known he would receive a sentence," and claimed that the situation of the Van Mayor, whose certificate of election was initially withheld, was the same.
Many DEM Party MPs reacted to İpek, asking, "Are you a court?" İpek replied, "Around 30 individuals with the potential to receive criminal convictions were nominated as candidates by the DEM Party." According to information obtained, the figure provided by İpek is approaching 40. AKP officials state that there are various lawsuits not only against DEM Party mayors but also against nearly 30 CHP mayors, and that these are also being monitored.
