Under the leadership of AKP President Tayyip Erdoğan, candidate formulas for the city's metropolitan and district municipalities were discussed at a meeting held in Ankara.

The Sabah newspaper, which is close to the AKP, claimed that Erdoğan requested 3 name suggestions each from deputies and provincial and district heads for every mayoral candidacy.

According to the efforts described at the meeting, half of the current mayors across Ankara will be replaced.

"3 DISTRICTS TO MHP" CLAIM

Among the claims included in the report is that the AKP will leave the Kalecik, Elmadağ, and Akyurt districts to its alliance partner, the MHP. The AKP had placed 1st in all 3 of these districts in the last general elections.

While it was stated that the final decision regarding these districts would be made by Erdoğan and MHP Chairman Devlet Bahçeli, it was suggested that a zipper system would be applied for municipal council memberships.
