As we head toward the local elections, Istanbul is among the cities that are being watched the most closely.

In Istanbul, where there will be a multi-candidate election, the race is expected to take place between Murat Kurum and Ekrem İmamoğlu.

Sözcü columnist İsmail Saymaz, in his column where he shared the Istanbul poll results from the Metropoll Research Company, drew attention to a striking point.

Saymaz claimed that the 'Kılıçdaroğlu clique' within the CHP is waiting for April 1st and is working harder than Kurum to ensure that İmamoğlu loses Istanbul.

The relevant part of Saymaz's column is as follows;

THE KILIÇDAROĞLU CLIQUE IS WAITING FOR APRIL 1ST

"Some Kılıçdaroğlu supporters and former party professionals, who are banking on İmamoğlu's defeat to stifle the change in the CHP, are working harder than Kurum to make him lose Istanbul.

Are you looking for those who are egging on the Victory Party (Zafer Partisi) by saying 'Field a candidate'...

Or those who are doing propaganda for the DEM Party!

If İmamoğlu is defeated, they are planning to take the party back by calling for an extraordinary convention.

Even Kılıçdaroğlu, instead of supporting his party's mayoral candidates, makes predictions based on failure scenarios, saying, 'If there is a failure in the local elections, we will sit down and discuss it.'

In addition to all his rivals, İmamoğlu is also competing against the Kılıçdaroğlu clique."

WHAT DID KILIÇDAROĞLU SAY?

Speaking recently to TGRT Ankara representative Fatih Atik, Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu had criticized the CHP regarding the debates that took place during the candidate selection process.

Stating that it was not right for Lütfü Savaş to be undermined, Kılıçdaroğlu gave the following answer to the question, "What will happen in the CHP after the March 31st elections?";

"Well, the results of the local government elections will be looked at. If success is achieved in the local elections, we will all applaud together. But if a problem arises in the local elections, then naturally, we will all sit down and put it on the table, think about why success was not achieved, and discuss it."
