In the İYİ Party, which has been shaken by resignation news, Ankara MP Yüksel Arslan, known for his closeness to Ankara Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Mansur Yavaş, has resigned.
According to a report by Haberler.com; it was claimed that İYİ Party Chair Meral Akşener is preparing to field renowned earthquake expert Prof. Dr. Naci Görür against CHP's candidate Ekrem İmamoğlu in Istanbul.
İYİ Party Chair Meral Akşener had described the resignations within her party as an "operation" and stated that they would enter the elections alone in many provinces, including Istanbul, using the following expressions:
"I am announcing it here, it is my idea, my instruction; we are entering alone, everywhere alone. We are entering alone in Ankara and in Istanbul. We are entering alone in every district. At the end of this, I believe we will succeed. As a result of this, this success belongs to all of us, and if there is a failure, it is mine. I will fulfill that responsibility. We will all work accordingly. If you do not want me to pay the price, you will work, you will win."
STATEMENT FROM NACİ GÖRÜR
A response has come to the claim that the İYİ Party will nominate Prof. Dr. Naci Görür against Ekrem İmamoğlu for the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Mayoralty.
Naci Görür spoke as follows:
"I am a scientist. I must remain above politics. What I want is for my voice to reach everyone. If I enter politics, I become a polemical figure. I would reach the base of one party. We do not pull people out from under the rubble based on whether they are from this party or that party. We are ready to serve scientifically whichever party needs it. However, it cannot be done through politics.
To the question 'Would you accept if an offer came', Naci Görür replied, "Offers come and go. They like me. However, I am never thinking about politics. If I enter politics, all these years I have given to the earthquake issue would end. I want to serve people scientifically. If I join a party, I would only speak to that party's base."
