Clear response to party congress debates! Özgür Özel explains: 'He said Kemal Bey, it was spotless'

CHP Chairman Özgür Özel made statements regarding the meeting between the imprisoned Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (İBB) Mayor and CHP presidential candidate Ekrem İmamoğlu and former Chairman Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu. 

Özel stated that Kılıçdaroğlu told İmamoğlu "The party congress was spotless" and that İmamoğlu wanted this statement to be heard by the public once again. Emphasizing that the allegations regarding the party congress process were baseless, Özel gave the message, "There was no suspicion in the congress; the will of the delegates is clear."

Özel held a meeting with İmamoğlu at Silivri Prison following the "Akın Gürlek" case. In his statement after the meeting, Özel said the following:

"THEY CAN NO LONGER SAY THE BIGGEST RADISH"

Özel used the following expressions: 

"Being the perpetrator of this business is worse than being the victim. At least we are the victims. The Chief Public Prosecutor is pressuring the university by saying 'hurry up.' They have given a task to the gentleman: do not let Ekrem İmamoğlu become a presidential candidate. 

They have invented today's court case from the remark, 'We will not do to you what you did to our children.' If saying a person's name is an insult, why does this name exist? 

They can no longer say 'the biggest radish.' On the day they said 'the biggest radish,' it emerged that a secret witness had testified. Supposedly there is an investigation, a court, and confidentiality. Confidentiality exists for us and the lawyers, but not for pro-government channels. They continue to attack in an inconceivable way. Yesterday's lie is debunked today, and today they invent a new one. 

"WE ARE COMPLAINING ABOUT THIS EVIL TO OUR NATION"

Where are the 1,200 mobile phones, where is the money found in the safes? Did you hear any explanation? Only one bullet was found in the safe. The dollar video? There was no footage; we used stock footage.

May nothing happen to you, let alone something like a stock video. Just think, if this were done to your sibling, your father, your spouse? Did you hear an apology from the character assassins? We are complaining about this evil to our nation.

"ANATOLIA DOES NOT NURTURE THIS MUCH EVIL"

An evil that does not exist in Anatolia. An evil that does not exist in our village, our neighborhood, our home. If this much evil were sown in the vast fields of Konya, it wouldn't even sprout this much grass. Anatolian soil does not nurture this much evil.

What I am curious about is the Chief Public Prosecutor, the prosecutor under the Chief Public Prosecutor, and those managing this political operation: are you that much in need of slander and the government? I challenge you. Put the truth forward, put something that is not a lie forward. They could not prove a single lira. 

He thinks he is Turkey's best legal expert, but you are a black stain on history. Both on the profession and on history. You cannot smear the filth in your hands onto our spotless friends. You could not soil our white shirts, like Mayor Ekrem's shirt, and you cannot soil them. 

What happened today? May God not put anyone in the position of the young friend sitting in the prosecutor's office. Mayor Ekrem explained and explained, and the mayor asked if this was it. I don't know if it's possible, but let Akın Gürlek come and sit there himself. What are you making people sign?

"THE STATE'S PROSECUTOR DOES NOT FALL TO THIS STATE"

I am a person who believes in the idea of the state. The state educated and raised me since I was 10 years old. The state's prosecutor does not fall to this state. Shame on those who give special political tasks to these young people and bring them to this state... I will not forget today, let no one forget.

KILIÇDAROĞLU-İMAMOĞLU MEETING

Every meeting that will increase intra-party solidarity is a positive meeting. After that meeting, a lot of lies were produced for a whole day. Supposedly, Mayor Ekrem said, 'The rallies are weak, you should attend too.' 

Everything the trolls write about İmamoğlu is a lie. What is true is that there is something our chairman needs to do; he is the person who held that congress, and I am the person who managed it at his request. I did not see any suspicion in the congress; did you? The chairman said, 'How can that be? I recorded a video and said the congress was spotless.' 

Ekrem Bey wants everyone to hear this once again. The Chairman also said, 'I will not go to court.' Ekrem Bey says that in the congress managed by the chairman, which he requested and had me manage, and where I was the speaker of the assembly, we later came together with all the delegates again and they refreshed their will once more with 1,170 votes, giving all valid votes. Even while we are in this state, he expresses his discomfort with it being debated in this sense on certain channels that are close to the government or used in favor of the government. The meeting between Mayor Ekrem and Kemal Bey is a meeting that should have happened anyway.

I met with him just yesterday, on Father's Day. We meet with Kemal Bey at every opportunity. If he wants, if I want... There is no problem here. The issue is that people who hope to benefit from the confusion of the Republican People's Party and the apparatuses they use within the party want to cause damage... I already see that these actions are not result-oriented but process-oriented, intended to make the party a subject of debate. With such a heavy burden, trouble, grief, and struggle, we will not give in to three or five clowns anyway."
