Following allegations regarding transactions in Özata Denizcilik (OZATD) shares, a significant claim has been made against Fatma Betül Sayan Kaya and her husband İlyas Kaya, who have since resigned from their positions within the AKP.
PREPARATIONS FOR A CRIMINAL COMPLAINT FROM THE CMB
According to a report in Sözcü, it is alleged that the Capital Markets Board (CMB) has expanded its investigation into the high-volume share transactions of the Kaya couple and is preparing to file a criminal complaint against the two individuals.
The names of the Kaya couple were not included in the list of criminal complaints announced by the CMB on September 25.
YENİ PARTY MEMBER HAD BROUGHT IT TO THE AGENDA
The allegations in question were brought to the public agenda by a statement made by YENİ Party Spokesperson Zeynel Emre on September 26. Emre claimed that Fatma Betül Sayan Kaya had purchased approximately 63.4 million TL worth of OZATD shares in April and had withdrawn approximately 1.34 billion TL from these shares in September.
Emre also raised the allegation that İlyas Kaya had withdrawn 826 million TL in exchange for an investment of approximately 99.7 million TL. These figures were reflected in the public domain as allegations raised by the opposition regarding the couple's transactions.
As part of its investigation into transactions in the Özata Denizcilik equity market, the CMB had previously decided to file a criminal complaint against 11 people in accordance with Article 107/1 of the Capital Markets Law No. 6362 and to impose a two-year trading ban on these individuals. The decision also included sanctions regarding Tera Yatırım and Tera Portföy.
On the other hand, it was reported that the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office has requested an injunction on the assets of Fatma Betül Sayan Kaya and İlyas Kaya. It was stated that the request seeks to restrict sales and transfer transactions, bring money transfers under control, and freeze securities.
KAYA REQUESTED TO BE "RELIEVED OF DUTY" AFTER THE ALLEGATIONS
It was also stated that the prosecutor's office requested an investigation into the title deed, ship, and aircraft records belonging to the family. Following the allegations, Fatma Betül Sayan Kaya announced that she had "requested to be relieved" of all her duties in the AKP; she stated that she made this decision to ensure that the investigation to be conducted could proceed independently and to clarify the allegations.
