Esenyurt Mayor Ahmet Özer, who was nominated as a joint candidate in Esenyurt by the CHP and DEM Party within the scope of the "City Consensus," was detained this morning as part of an investigation into membership in the PKK terrorist organization.

It is alleged that Ahmet Özer has had ties to the PKK for over 10 years.

MHP Secretary General and Bursa Deputy İsmet Büyükataman, in his statement regarding the news of the detention, recalled the warnings of MHP Leader Devlet Bahçeli. Büyükataman said, "Our Chairman Bahçeli had warned before the local elections that the 'City Consensus' was actually a PKK alliance; his justification has been proven once again," he said.

Büyükataman also emphasized that the Akdeniz and Toroslar municipalities won through the cooperation of the CHP and DEM Party, as well as the names added to the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Council from the DEM quota, should also be investigated.

In the continuation of his post on social media, Büyükataman used the following expressions:

Turkey's firm stance in the fight against terrorism is disrupting the games of those who use terrorism as a pawn. Our state is doing what is necessary; the path to handing over municipalities to the terrorist organization must be closed”
