Commentary on İmamoğlu-Özel from the MHP front: 'He is the one who wants İmamoğlu's punishment the most'

MHP Deputy Chairman and Istanbul MP Semih Yalçın made statements regarding the situation within the Republican People's Party (CHP) following the imprisonment of Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu.
In a written statement, Yalçın targeted CHP leader Özgür Özel.
“ÖZEL WILL CONTINUE TO FLATTER İMAMOĞLU”
In his statement, Yalçın claimed that Özel currently appears as if he is not abandoning İmamoğlu, but that this will not last long. Stating that Özel will continue to appear to support İmamoğlu to the public for a while longer, Yalçın used the following expressions:
“Özel will continue to pat him on the back and flatter him for a while longer to minimize the nightmares and anxieties of İmamoğlu in his prison cell. For a while longer, he will continue to carry an imaginary chair with the label 'Ekrem İmamoğlu' on it wherever he goes.”

“When the time comes, he will not hesitate to declare his independence and 'freedom' to take permanent steps toward his own presidential candidacy. In reality, Özgür Özel wants İmamoğlu to be punished, disqualified, and removed from the ring more than anyone else.”
“THE JUDICIAL PROCESS HAS OFFERED ÖZEL A GOLDEN OPPORTUNITY”
Yalçın expressed that Özgür Özel has long remained in the shadow of İmamoğlu and has found an opportunity to break free from this situation with the judicial process. He included the following words in his assessment:
“Because a legal opportunity has emerged before him to get rid of the domination and tutelage. Time, history, and the judicial process have offered Özgür Özel the opportunity to break free from the dark shadow of Ekrem İmamoğlu.”
