Commission members bound for Ireland

The National Solidarity, Brotherhood and Democracy Commission, established in the Grand National Assembly of Turkey (TBMM), continues its work as part of the "Terror-Free Turkey" process. The commission will travel to Dublin, the capital of the Republic of Ireland, to examine the experiences of the terrorist organization IRA regarding its disarmament and peace process on-site.

The commission met for the 16th time today. During the meeting, Minister of Justice Yılmaz Tunç and Minister of Foreign Affairs Hakan Fidan provided information about the ongoing process and answered members' questions. It was decided by majority vote, against five dissenting votes, that the meeting would be held behind closed doors.

IRA EXPERIENCE TO BE EXAMINED IN DUBLIN

According to information provided by journalist İsmail Saymaz, commission members will depart for Dublin on Saturday. As part of the visit, members will conduct examinations regarding the social reconciliation and disarmament process of the Irish Republican Army (IRA), which was founded in 1969 and ended its armed activities in the early 2000s.

COMMISSION DELEGATION DETERMINED

According to Saymaz's report, the following names will be in the commission delegation traveling to Ireland:

AK Party: Abdurrahman Babacan

New Way Party: Bülent Kaya, Mehmet Emin Ekmen, Mustafa Bilici

DEM Party: Celal Fırat, Gülistan Kılıç Koçyiğit

CHP: Sezgin Tanrıkulu, Oğuz Kaan Salıcı

It was stated that Yılmaz Ensaroğlu will be in the delegation on behalf of civil society.

NO NAME YET REPORTED FROM MHP

The commission's visit to Ireland will take place upon the invitation of the UK-based Democratic Progress Institute (DPI). The delegation will examine the IRA process and the peace mechanism known as the "Irish model" on-site.

It was reported that the MHP has not yet notified a name regarding the representative who will take part in the delegation.
