In his message, Mayor Özel stated the following:

"I have learned with deep sorrow of the passing of our esteemed Metropolitan Mayor of Manisa, our valued colleague Ferdi Zeyrek. Unfortunately, the painful news we feared has arrived regarding our Mayor, whose good news we were waiting for with hope. We are in indescribable grief over this loss that has scorched our hearts.
