The eagerly awaited Republican People's Party (CHP) Istanbul Provincial Congress took place yesterday. In the congress, where 196 party convention delegates were to be determined alongside the provincial president, the candidate of the change-makers, Özgür Çelik, surpassed the candidate of the party headquarters, Cemal Canpolat, by 32 votes to become the CHP Istanbul Provincial President.
According to the official statement, Özgür Çelik received 342 votes, while Cemal Canpolat received 310 votes.

Özgür Özel, who announced his candidacy for the CHP Chairmanship, congratulated Çelik on social media.
