Corruption allegations at Beykoz Municipality: Indictment prepared for Alaattin Köseler and 25 others

The investigation launched into Beykoz Municipality over allegations of 'rigging of tenders' has been completed. An indictment has been prepared by the Beykoz Chief Public Prosecutor's Office for 26 people, including the detained Beykoz Mayor Alaattin Köseler. The indictment has been sent to the Anatolian Chief Public Prosecutor's Office for the filing of a lawsuit.
WHAT HAPPENED?
CHP Beykoz Mayor Alaattin Köseler was detained at his home around 04:00 on the morning of February 27. Köseler was taken to the police station under the instructions of the Beykoz Chief Public Prosecutor's Office.
The reasons cited for Köseler's detention were accusations of "rigging of tenders" and "misconduct in office."
21 people, including Köseler, were referred to the Beykoz Courthouse. The suspects were first taken to the hospital for a medical check-up.
18 people, including Köseler and his Chief of Staff, were referred to the Beykoz Criminal Court of Peace with a request for their arrest. Köseler was arrested by the court. While 13 of those referred to the court were arrested, five were released under judicial control.
In his statement to the prosecutor's office, Köseler stated that he did not meet with representatives of companies participating in tenders at Beykoz Municipality in his office or anywhere else, did not engage in price negotiations, did not provide guidance, and did not issue instructions.
WHO IS ALAATTİN KÖSELER?
Alaattin Köseler was born in Paşabahçe in 1960. Coming from a family that has been in Beykoz for three generations, Köseler completed all his education in Beykoz.
Köseler graduated from the Faculty of Architecture at Yıldız Technical University in 1983. After his military service, he began his master's degree at Mimar Sinan University.
He served as the President of the Beykoz Sports Club. As an architect, he worked as a site manager and project manager in various construction companies. Later, he established his own architectural office. Köseler was elected Mayor of Beykoz in the 1999 local elections. He is currently serving as the Mayor of Beykoz from the CHP.
A member of the TMMOB, Alaattin Köseler is married and a father of one child.
