Criminal complaint against Erdoğan: 'Those who shower our people with insults will be held accountable'

The People's Liberation Party (HKP) has filed a criminal complaint with the Ankara Chief Public Prosecutor's Office regarding the remarks made by President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan against those who opposed the national mourning declared for Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh. The HKP alleged that Erdoğan humiliated the public with expressions such as "degenerate" (cibilliyeti bozuk) and incited the public to hatred and hostility.

HE HUMILIATES EVERYONE WHO DOES NOT PLEDGE ALLEGIANCE TO HIM

HKP Central Executive Committee member Adnan Okur, in a statement regarding the criminal complaint, said that Erdoğan constantly insults and humiliates the millions who do not pledge allegiance to him and who uphold the principles of the secular republic. Okur stated, "We may not get a result from this criminal complaint, but we will once again leave a note for history. Those who shower our people with insults will one day be held accountable before independent judges."

The HKP filed the criminal complaint against President Erdoğan on the grounds that he committed the crimes of "insult," "inciting the public to hatred and hostility or humiliation," and "humiliating the Turkish Nation, the State of the Republic of Turkey, and the institutions and organs of the State."

HKP Central Executive Committee member Okur, recalling that Erdoğan has made similar insults in the past, noted that he most recently targeted criticisms regarding the mourning declared for Haniyeh by using expressions such as "degenerate" and "house nigger." Okur emphasized that these words by Erdoğan are of a nature that humiliates and polarizes broad segments of society.

Although the criminal complaint was made as a reaction to these words by Erdoğan, the HKP does not expect an immediate result from this initiative. However, the party states that it will continue its legal struggle and that these types of insults will be held to account in the future.

AKP President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, in a speech he gave at his party's headquarters in recent days, used the expression, "We showed our solidarity with the Palestinian people by declaring a one-day national mourning in our country. But some degenerates on some screens could not digest the interest we showed them. Were we supposed to get permission from you to make these decisions? We received the necessary permission from our nation and we are taking our steps accordingly."

Erdoğan, targeting the opposition that criticized the access ban on Instagram, had said, "The only goal of these 'house niggers,' who are more Western than the West and more pro-Israel than Israel, is to curry favor with their masters."
