Criminal record of mayor who switched from CHP to AKP revealed

Veysel Topçu, who was elected Mayor of Dinar from the CHP in the March 31, 2024 local elections, joined the AKP last week, where his party pin was attached by President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.
Following the political transition, various judicial files concerning Mayor Topçu and his family have become a subject of public debate once again.
HIS SON'S NAME LINKED TO FATAL ACCIDENT FILE
According to the allegations, Mayor Topçu's son, A.T., was involved in a traffic accident in the Dinar district of Afyonkarahisar in May 2025, which resulted in the death of a non-commissioned officer's wife.
While it is alleged that the scene of the accident was fled, it is claimed that two municipal police officers working for the Dinar Municipality were sent to the scene in changed clothing to take responsibility for the accident. However, the claim that the incident was different emerged as a result of security camera footage and fingerprint examinations.
It was stated that A.T. was later apprehended in Antalya and released under judicial control with a travel ban.
ALLEGATION OF ARREST FOR SEXUAL ASSAULT
The allegations brought against A.T. did not stop there.
It is alleged that A.T., who was reportedly arrested in November 2025 on charges of "sexual assault" against a woman living in the region, spent some time in prison and that the ongoing trial process is continuing without detention.
CLAIMS THAT HIS FATHER IS A FUGITIVE
Based on documents shared by journalist Barış Terkoğlu, the allegations state that Mayor Veysel Topçu's father was also convicted of various crimes.
According to the allegations, Topçu's father was sentenced to a total of more than 50 years in prison for defrauding farmers, looting, and abuse of trust. It is claimed that the individual in question has been a fugitive abroad for a long time.
ALLEGATIONS THAT THE MAYOR ALSO RECEIVED A PRISON SENTENCE
Among the information brought to light are cases involving Mayor Veysel Topçu that were heard in previous years.
According to the allegations, it was learned that Topçu received separate prison sentences of 1 year and 7 months for various fraud cases heard between 2014 and 2017.
