A crisis has erupted within the People's Alliance in the Harran district of Şanlıurfa

Mehmet Ali Özyavuz of the AKP filed a complaint with his party's headquarters against his alliance partner, MHP Harran Mayor Mahmut Özyavuz, in a letter where he wrote: "The state of the region should not be left to the mercy of a network conspiracy involving a father as a member of parliament, a son as mayor, an uncle as district head, and a nephew as provincial head."

According to a report by Veli Toprak from Sözcü; the conflict between the two parties in Harran, which was left to the MHP in 2019 despite being an AKP stronghold, was described in the petition as follows:

"HE FIRED 120 AKP WORKERS"

"After handing over Harran to the alliance in the 2019 elections, MHP MP İbrahim Özyavuz hastily made his son, Mahmut Özyavuz, the mayoral candidate, and he was elected mayor. The day after the election, the mayor fired 120 people who were working at the Harran Municipality—who were previously AKP supporters—without severance pay."

GRAY PASSPORT SCANDAL

"Mahmut Özyavuz facilitated the travel abroad of 265 people, most of whom are currently under investigation for ties to the PKK, PYD, and DAESH, by disguising them as members of a sports club participating in a tour in exchange for financial gain, and by arranging gray passports for them. The investigation into this matter is still ongoing with judicial authorities and the Ministry of Interior."

ALLEGATIONS OF AID TO TERRORIST ORGANIZATIONS: DAESH-PKK SIM CARD SALES

"It is also known to the public that in 2017, approximately 5,000 SIM cards were procured for large sums of money in the names of the terrorist organizations DAESH and the PKK from a dealership he operated himself. Following the launch of an investigation into him regarding this, he transferred these dealerships to others."

"RESIGN FROM THE AKP"

"When individuals who support the AKP have any requests from the municipality, the mayor in question has made threats and statements that he would only fulfill their requests in exchange for them resigning from the AKP. It is known that a citizen named Halil Boğa received the response 'I will grant the license if you resign from the AKP' when he requested a business license from the Harran Municipality."
