Critical detail in İmamoğlu indictment: Request to seize 36 companies

The 'corruption' indictment targeting the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (İBB) has been completed. In the indictment, which exceeds 3,700 pages, 402 people, 105 of whom are in custody, are listed as 'suspects'. While it is requested that İmamoğlu be punished for 142 separate acts, a prison sentence of 828 to 2,352 years has been sought.
In the indictment, İmamoğlu is accused of "forming an organization to take over the CHP" and "creating a fund to ensure he is nominated as a presidential candidate." The public loss is stated as 160 billion TL, 24 million dollars, and 95 pieces of real estate.
Ekrem İmamoğlu is accused of being an "organization founder," while Fatih Keleş, Murat Ongun, Ertan Yıldız, Murat Gülbekaran, Adem Soytekin, and Hüseyin Gün are accused of being "organization managers." Of the 92 people mentioned in the indictment, 92 are classified as 'organization members,' while the rest are described as 'individuals who are not members of the organization but are connected to it.'
The 'suspects' face charges of "establishing a criminal organization," "managing a criminal organization," "taking bribes," and "giving bribes." The phrase "like the arms of an octopus," frequently used by President Tayyip Erdoğan, appears four times in the indictment.
The indictment also includes a request to seize the companies of 36 individuals, stating the following:
"It is requested that the companies belonging to suspects Ekrem İmamoğlu, Fatih Keleş, Murat Ongun, Ertan Yıldız, Adem Soytekin, Murat Gülibrahimoğlu, Emrah Bağdatlı, Hüseyin Köksal, Mustafa Nihat Sütlaş, Tuncay Yılmaz, Ömür Yılmaz, Murat Kapki, Fatoş Pınar Türker, Hakan Karanis, Serhat Kapki, Vedat Şahin, Necati Özkan, Eyüp Subaşı, Gülşah Subaşı, Ahmet Köksal, Alihan Aydın, Alper Aydın, Alperen Aydın, Ali Kurt, Serpil Kadıoğlu, Sarp Yalçınkaya, Seza Büyükçulha, Ali Nuhoğlu, Berat Çağrı Kapki, Elif Kapki, Yiğit Çam, Baran Gönül, Hasan İmamoğlu, Zeynep Ayten Gözdem Ongun, İbrahim Bülbüllü, and Mehmet Selim İmamoğlu, which were seized by decisions of the Istanbul Criminal Judgeships of Peace, be confiscated in accordance with Articles 54 and 55 of the Turkish Penal Code No. 5237, as they represent illicit gains obtained from crime and companies used in the commission of the crime."
