It has been learned that the preparations carried out by the commission formed within the AKP as part of the new constitution efforts have reached the final stage. The commission, which has been continuing its work for about a year, is expected to meet again in the coming days to prepare a policy document that will set out the party's fundamental approach to the new constitution.
It was stated that the final topics of the work were discussed at a meeting held under the chairmanship of Vice President Cevdet Yılmaz before the Eid al-Adha holiday.
POLICY DOCUMENT TO BE PREPARED
According to the information obtained, the commission plans to clarify the main framework regarding the new constitution goals in the meetings it will hold in the coming period.
It is stated that the text to be prepared will be in the nature of a policy document that will reflect the AKP's perspective on the new constitution.
Officials state that the work in question will not contain direct constitutional articles, but will instead include general proposals and approaches regarding topics such as fundamental rights and freedoms, the legislature, the executive, and the judiciary.
DRAFT TO BE PRESENTED TO ERDOĞAN
It is pointed out that the text being worked on by the commission is not a constitutional draft or a constitutional text.
It is stated that after the work is completed, the document to be prepared will be presented to President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, and then it will be shared with the public and the negotiation process with political parties will be initiated.
WHO IS ON THE COMMISSION?
Vice President Cevdet Yılmaz holds the chairmanship of the commission established for the new constitution efforts.
The commission includes AKP Deputy Chairmen Efkan Ala and Mustafa Elitaş, AKP Deputy Chairmen Hayati Yazıcı and Ali İhsan Yavuz, AKP Spokesperson Ömer Çelik, AKP Group Chairman Abdullah Güler, AKP Group Deputy Chairmen Özlem Zengin, Muhammet Emin Akbaşoğlu, and Bahadır Yenişehirlioğlu, as well as AKP Antalya Deputy Serap Yazıcı Özbudun.
