While cults and religious communities continue to exert their influence day by day, they have once again come to the agenda with an incident of violence.
According to the report by Hazar Dost from Sözcü, camera footage has emerged showing M.A., who worked as an instructor at the course, beating multiple children in the classroom.
One of the children who suffered violence described what they went through, saying, “He would come to our room during morning prayer and wake us up by beating us. When we told the administrators, we would get the response, ‘He is your teacher, such things can happen.’”
A.A., who was forced to stay in the dormitory under difficult conditions for a year because their family also supported the dormitory management, stated that the donations made to the dormitory were also withheld by these teachers, saying, “They were making money through religion.”
Stating that all children staying at the dormitory were beaten 3-4 days a week, A.A. said that many children could not tell their families about the incidents because they were afraid.
16-year-old B.A., who stayed in the dormitory for two years, explained that M.A. would use violence even without any reason, saying, “While we were eating in the cafeteria, he would come and start beating us, saying, ‘Eat properly, you scoundrel.’” Stating that “We were treated like dogs,” B.A. reported that they watched the incidents of violence they experienced on camera, but the footage was deleted afterward.
