Date for the Supreme Military Council (YAŞ) meeting announced: Promotions and retirement files on the agenda

Promotions, term extensions, and retirement files will be discussed at the Supreme Military Council (YAŞ) meeting chaired by President Erdoğan.

The Supreme Military Council (YAŞ) will convene on August 4 under the chairmanship of President and AKP Chairman Recep Tayyip Erdoğan. The meeting will evaluate files regarding promotions, term extensions, and retirements due to lack of cadre within the Turkish Armed Forces.

The Council's decisions will clarify which personnel will be promoted to the next rank, which commanders will have their terms extended, and which names will be retired. YAŞ members are expected to visit Anıtkabir before the meeting.

In addition to Vice President Cevdet Yılmaz, the meeting will be attended by Minister of Justice Akın Gürlek, Minister of Foreign Affairs Hakan Fidan, Minister of Treasury and Finance Mehmet Şimşek, Minister of Interior Mustafa Çiftçi, Minister of National Education Yusuf Tekin, and Minister of National Defense Yaşar Güler.

Chief of General Staff General Selçuk Bayraktaroğlu, Land Forces Commander General Metin Tokel, Naval Forces Commander Admiral Ercüment Tatlıoğlu, and Air Force Commander General Ziya Cemal Kadıoğlu will also participate in the Council.

The term of Naval Forces Commander Admiral Ercüment Tatlıoğlu, whose term was previously extended twice, ends this year. The term of Air Force Commander General Ziya Cemal Kadıoğlu was extended last year; Kadıoğlu's term will expire in 2027.
