The transition of Ankara Keçiören Mayor Mesut Özarslan, who was involved in politics within the CHP for a long time and whose resignation recently sparked controversy, to the AKP is becoming certain. According to the claims, Özarslan's participation will be announced at the group meeting to be held this week.

The statement regarding Özarslan's process of joining the AKP was announced by former Ağrı Mayor Savcı Sayan, who previously moved from the CHP to the AKP. Sayan stated, “On Wednesday, at our group meeting, Mayor MESUT may achieve his wish and be happy.. My source does not mislead me…”

CHP Chairman Özgür Özel had previously criticized Özarslan, saying, “'Tosuncuk' Özarslan, just like the fleeing Efe, wants to join the AKP to escape corruption allegations, and is also urging municipal council members to switch to the AKP.”

ÖZARSLAN'S RESIGNATION FROM THE CHP AND THE SUBSEQUENT PROCESS

Özarslan announced his resignation from the CHP on February 8. During the resignation process, Özarslan, who filed a defamation lawsuit against CHP Chairman Özgür Özel, stated that the reason for his departure was the insults directed at him. Özel, on the other hand, claimed that Özarslan was changing parties due to investigations into corruption allegations and that he had not answered his phone for a long time.

Information also suggests that the AKP leadership prioritized Özarslan's participation in the party but decided to wait for a while before the transition. Following the final assessments, it is stated that Özarslan will officially join the AKP tomorrow.
