Davutoğlu's first comment after the dissolution decision: He explained where the organization's cadre should go

Gelecek Party Chairman and former Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoğlu made evaluations regarding the agenda on the Yeni Bir Sabah program broadcast on Halk TV. As a guest of İsmail Küçükkaya, Davutoğlu evaluated the process of dissolving the terrorist organization PKK. 

Pointing out that if the liquidation of the PKK's armed structure and organizational cadre is spread over time, it could create major risks, Davutoğlu said that the process must be carried out carefully and quickly.

"A JOINT MECHANISM MUST BE ESTABLISHED"

Davutoğlu stated that disarmament should not consist of mere appearances and issued the following warning:

“It is correct for disarmament to be carried out as follows: After this appearance is given, disarmament must be achieved as soon as possible through a joint mechanism. Because if it is spread over time, it becomes open to provocation.”

Stating that disarmament technically means the “surrender of specific material,” Davutoğlu expressed that it is essential for this process to be implemented without delay.

"THE CADRE STRUCTURE IS THE MOST IMPORTANT ISSUE"

Davutoğlu emphasized that clarifying the future of the organization's cadre structure is the main issue. Referring to the high-level structure of the terrorist organization, he said, “This cadre is between 30 and 50 people. It is at least 30; it does not fall below 30, but it does not exceed 50.”

Stating that these individuals coming to Turkey could carry serious risks, Davutoğlu expressed that the country to which the cadre will be sent must be determined carefully.

'IT COULD BE QATAR, SULAYMANIYAH IS NOT AN OPTION'

Davutoğlu stated that the country to which the organization's cadre is sent must be a country that has not had and will not have problems with Turkey in the past or future. Expressing that Qatar could be a suitable example at this point, Davutoğlu stated that he does not consider Sulaymaniyah to be appropriate.
