Future Party leader Ahmet Davutoğlu made assessments regarding current issues during his party's group meeting.
"THE IDEA OF CLOSING A PARTY IS UNACCEPTABLE"
Recalling the 3,741-page indictment regarding the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality, Davutoğlu stated that there should be no compromise in the fight against corruption. Saying, "May the hand of anyone who reaches for the rights of an innocent orphan be broken," Davutoğlu also reacted to the debates surrounding the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office's notification regarding the closure of the CHP.
Davutoğlu emphasized that the law should not be used as a tool for politics, stating, "Opening a closure case against the main opposition party will benefit no one. Even the mere thought of this is unacceptable. Let those who commit crimes face their punishment; do not attempt to design politics by closing parties and imposing political bans."
Continuing his speech, Davutoğlu referred to the closure case filed against the AKP in 2008, stating that he had stepped into politics in a "narrow sense" at that time, and added, "I want the same justice for my opponents that I want for myself."
