Republican People's Party (CHP) Group Deputy Chairman Murat Emir expressed his party's views on the İmralı decision and the Kurdish issue during a press conference.
Emir stated that the CHP has historically advocated for the resolution of the Kurdish issue through democratic means and emphasized that this stance will continue.
Murat Emir said, "While there are those who deny the Kurdish issue, we are a party that courageously voices the existence of this problem and offers solutions. We are supporters of sincere steps to be taken for peace and resolution." He also expressed that they are against the issue of whether or not to go to İmralı encompassing the entire matter. Emir noted that state officials are already visiting İmralı, but that a broader discussion process needs to be conducted.
Explaining that the CHP decided not to participate in the closed session following the decision for a closed vote, Emir said that society expects steps to be taken such as the removal of appointed trustees (kayyum) and the implementation of Constitutional Court (AYM) and European Court of Human Rights (ECHR) rulings.
Emir stated that they do not understand how the insistence on this process and the steps taken will contribute to a solution.
