Peoples' Equality and Democracy Party (DEM Party) Group Deputy Chair Sezai Temelli made statements regarding the agenda during a press conference at the Turkish Grand National Assembly (TBMM).

Temelli stated that in some eastern provinces, personnel belonging to security forces were registered as voters, influencing election results in favor of the ruling party.

POINTED TO 3 CITIES: ELECTIONS SHOULD BE RENEWED IF NECESSARY

Announcing that they would submit parliamentary research motions on this issue, Temelli said, "In the coming period, the Parliament must first take steps to put an end to such practices. If necessary, elections should be renewed in Şırnak, Bitlis, and Kars."

Arguing that the Parliament should take the local election results into account, DEM Party's Temelli added, "Only a Parliament that takes into account the political landscape that emerged from the March 31 results can implement healthy policies."

"THE BUDGET HAS A DEFICIT OF 20 BILLION DOLLARS IN 3 MONTHS"

Speaking on the economy, Temelli stated that the budget had a deficit of approximately 20 billion dollars in the first quarter of this year, saying, "There is a Treasury and Finance Minister who rejoices by saying, 'I found 18 billion dollars from the World Bank.' The budget has a 20 billion dollar deficit in 3 months."

"AN ADDITIONAL BUDGET WILL COME BEFORE US AGAIN IN A FEW MONTHS"

Stating that the budget will have a higher deficit by the end of the year, Temelli said, "Just as supplementary budgets were made in previous years, we estimate that an additional budget will come before us again in a few months. The trend shows this."

"THE CENTRAL BANK HAS A MASSIVE LOSS"

Temelli also answered questions from members of the press.

When asked for his assessment regarding the announcement that the Central Bank incurred a loss according to its 2023 balance sheet, Temelli said:

"This was actually a loss that the Treasury had to bear. Because they were afraid of further enlarging a massive budget deficit, they dumped this onto the Central Bank. The Central Bank has a massive loss, a very serious loss. The cost of this will undoubtedly fall on society as a burden. The most important cost of this is inflation and price hikes. This will be one of the most important factors that will trigger inflation in the coming period. Because the Central Bank cannot produce or conduct a healthy monetary policy with such a balance sheet."
