DEM Party calls for peace: 'Imralı meeting is insufficient'
DEM Party Co-Chair Tülay Hatimoğulları, speaking in Diyarbakır, stated that the meeting held at Imralı was not enough, saying, "The doors of Imralı must be opened, and the physical conditions must be provided for Abdullah Öcalan to work for peace." Hatimoğulları emphasized that the peace process is critical.

A public meeting program was held in Diyarbakır by the Democratic Regions Party (DBP). The program was attended by Peoples' Equality and Democracy Party (DEM Party) Co-Chair Tülay Hatimoğulları, DBP Co-Chairs Keskin Bayındır and Çiğdem Kılıçgün Uçar, Diyarbakır Metropolitan Municipality Co-Mayor Ayşe Serra Bucak Küçük, as well as DEM Party members of parliament and municipal co-mayors.
DEVELOPMENTS IN SYRIA
Speaking at the program, DEM Party Co-Chair Tülay Hatimoğulları stated that the developments in Syria affect the entire world, adding, "Unfortunately, democracy did not arrive after the regime changed. We are currently experiencing something worse than the worst. Now, the appetites of those who said 'Kobani is about to fall' have been whetted once again. They are doing everything they can to make Kobani fall as well."
"FOLLOW DEVELOPMENTS IN SYRIA AND PALESTINE CLOSELY"
Hatimoğulları said, "Valuable Kurdish people, there are new developments that you, in particular, as well as all other peoples living in Turkey, are watching with curiosity and attention. We are aware of these developments. You, the valuable Kurdish people, are following them with the greatest excitement. The doors of Imralı have been opened for now. A DEM Party delegation has visited Öcalan in Imralı. I would like to share with you one or two points that Öcalan conveyed to our delegation. We have already made the 7-point statement, and you have certainly watched them. Öcalan says, 'Everyone should follow the developments in Syria closely. Everyone should follow the developments in Palestine and Gaza closely.' We stand behind these words."
"THIS MEETING IS NOT ENOUGH, THE DOORS OF IMRALI MUST BE OPENED"
Noting that we are going through a historical turning point, Hatimoğulları stated the following:
"In this historical turning point, either a positive break will occur and we will build peace, or negative breaks will occur and everywhere will become Gaza. Therefore, we want to address the state's wisdom from here. This meeting held in Imralı is not enough; the doors of Imralı must be opened, and the physical conditions must be provided for Öcalan to work for peace—not just for peace in Turkey, but for peace in the entire Middle East. I will underline one more point. This process is an important process, and we are all following it with great excitement. But let us not fall into complacency. We must never fall into a situation where we weaken our democratic struggle by saying, 'Things are being handled anyway, peace is coming.' If the doors of Imralı have been opened today, it is thanks to the struggle waged by you, our valuable people."
