DEM Party calls on TBMM to form a commission

DEM Party Group Deputy Chair Sezai Temelli issued a call to Parliament Speaker Numan Kurtulmuş during a press conference held at the TBMM. Temelli recalled that following Abdullah Öcalan's statement on February 27, the PKK announced it would dissolve itself and lay down its arms on May 12, noting that no concrete steps have been taken since these developments.

Temelli stated, "It is time to take action. We expect Parliament Speaker Kurtulmuş to take initiative on this matter. The work of a commission specific to this issue is the most important responsibility of politics."

'PRIORITY MUST BE GIVEN TO DIPLOMACY'

Temelli stated that Israel's attacks on Iran have intensified the war in the region, adding, "Nearly 400 people have lost their lives, most of them civilians. Turkey and other countries in the region must prioritize diplomacy."

Expressing that the Turkish economy has a fragile structure, Temelli argued that the Central Bank is unable to manage the banking system. "The minimum wage should be equal to half of the poverty line. However, the current economic management is running a program at the expense of laborers and the poor," he said. Furthermore, he filed a criminal complaint against the head of TÜİK, alleging that the rights of public employees are being stolen.

PRISONS AND POLITICAL PRISONERS

Drawing attention to poor conditions in prisons, Temelli said, "It is meaningless to ask detainees like Nihat Genç, 'Are you remorseful?' These arbitrary practices must end." He also stated that DEM Party officials have applied to visit Ekrem İmamoğlu and other political prisoners held in Silivri Prison.

Finally, stating that the meetings in İmralı should be expanded, Temelli called on the government to ensure these visits are conducted in a more comprehensive manner.
