DEM Party criticizes Diyanet sermon: 'They bear responsibility for crimes against women'

The Women's Assembly of the Peoples' Equality and Democracy Party (DEM Party) has expressed its reaction to the remarks regarding women's clothing in the latest Friday sermon prepared by the Presidency of Religious Affairs (Diyanet). The Women's Assembly stated that such discourse constitutes an interference in women's lifestyles and bears responsibility for crimes committed against women.

In the statement by the DEM Party Women's Assembly, it was noted: "This approach, which portrays the decisions women make regarding their own bodies and lives as a crime, is a legitimization of violence and massacres against women. Those who prepare and approve this content are responsible for the crimes committed against women. We will condemn this mentality that interferes with women's lifestyles!"

STATEMENTS IN THE SERMON

In the latest Friday sermon by the Presidency of Religious Affairs, the following expressions were used: "Clothing that leaves the body exposed and garments that reveal body contours are a violation of Allah's commands. Such clothing is an attack on the institution of the family and is inappropriate in social spaces. Everyone who remains silent while the measures of morality and decency are violated bears a great burden of sin."
