DEM Party group meeting concludes: Tülay Hatimoğulları reads Öcalan's message

Following the group speech by Nationalist Movement Party (MHP) Chairman Devlet Bahçeli, the DEM Party held its group meeting.

DEM Party Co-Chair Tülay Hatimoğulları Oruç made statements at the parliamentary podium.

Tülay Hatimoğulları's statement is as follows:

Our Siirt Municipality Co-Mayor was sentenced to 6 years and 3 months. This sentence is a clear attack on the will of the people. It is a blatant coup. We never accept these attacks targeting our municipal co-mayors and the undermining of the search for peace in this way. We do not find it right to implement a penal system against our municipal co-mayors while peace is being discussed on one hand.

This decision is once again an indicator of the judiciary's attack against the entire opposition. We have not taken a single step back to this day despite prisons, pressures, and political genocide operations. We will never kneel or beg for mercy against these political genocide operations.

We have faced a fire disaster caused by those who want to turn Turkey into a country of easy deaths. As a country, we have experienced an indescribable pain.

Despite all this profit, the government is protecting a business person who has taken no precautions.

These are the people who, in order to earn a few pennies, did not carry out inspections and caused the loss of 78 citizens' lives.

The cause of this disaster is the rent-seeking, bribery-prone mindset that restricts the powers of municipalities.

CALL FOR RESIGNATION TO THE MINISTER OF CULTURE AND TOURISM

All officials responsible for this disaster, especially the Minister of Culture and Tourism, must resign immediately, and I mean immediately. Resignation alone is not enough; they must also be held accountable before the judiciary. We know that as long as this massacre is not accounted for, it will open the door to new massacres and much greater ones will occur. The Minister of Culture and Tourism must resign from that seat immediately, without waiting a second. This is not a choice, it is a necessity.

WHAT MESSAGE DID ÖCALAN SEND?

The second Imralı meeting, which we were all waiting for with curiosity, has taken place. What was discussed at the Imralı meeting and the roadmap that emerged from it is, of course, a subject that Turks, Kurds, and all peoples are waiting for with curiosity. I would like to share with you the greetings Mr. Öcalan sent to our citizens.

Tülay Hatimoğulları also conveyed the messages of PKK leader Abdullah Öcalan from the second Imralı meeting with the following expressions:

"Mr. Öcalan stated the following during the meeting: He said he is continuing his work. Regarding the meeting that the public is waiting for with curiosity, he said: 'I would like to share with you some important issues concerning Turkish society as follows:

Mr. Öcalan assessed that we are going through a historical period where global, regional, and national crises are overlapping. He said that resorting to stalling, buying time, and wait-and-see policies regarding the solution of the Kurdish question and the democratization of Turkey during this period of overlapping crises would be the greatest harm done to the peoples of Turkey. The way to protect Turkish society and the peoples of the region against the crises being experienced is clear. Mr. Öcalan's call is clear. Pulling Turkey onto the ground of democracy is the only remedy to save it from crises.

In this context, Mr. Öcalan insisted once again in this meeting that he aims to move the issue from the ground of violence and conflict to the ground of democratic law and democratic politics.

As Mr. Öcalan emphasized in the last meeting, commonalities achieved at critical turning points in history contribute to the solution of problems. In the meeting on January 22, Mr. Öcalan emphasized the importance of a radical solution to existing problems only through democratic law. I must state that Mr. Öcalan underlined the following points:

"He stated that he is ready to present a roadmap to exit this vicious cycle where the sweat of workers and laborers is spent on security policies by constantly producing anxiety about survival, where poverty deepens, lawlessness becomes ordinary, exploitation becomes widespread, and hostility toward women and children increases.

He strongly expressed that he is ready to create the foundation for Turkey to free itself from all shackles.

Furthermore, Mr. Öcalan stated to our delegation in the last meeting that if Bahçeli's approach meets with state wisdom, it could lead to a historical breakthrough that would serve peace.
