The Peoples' Equality and Democracy Party (DEM) Party Assembly (PM) has put the upcoming local elections on the table.

In the final declaration released after the Party Assembly meeting, a message of 'We are ready to negotiate' was given for the local elections.

In the declaration shared with the public by the DEM Party, it was stated: "Turkey's problems can only be solved through negotiation methods. For this reason, we value dialogue and negotiations between political parties. We are ready to negotiate with everyone who bases their policies on local democracy, democratic consensus, free politics, universal human rights, and women's liberation."

The declaration included the following statements:

"In the west of Turkey, we see it as a priority task to meet, negotiate, walk together, and establish a 'City Consensus' ground that will weave a common struggle with all institutions, organizations, workers, laborers, ecologists, women, youth, peoples and faith organizations, political parties, labor and professional organizations, democratic and conscientious citizens, and all social parties and political actors that create and sustain the city."

Furthermore, the phrases "In accordance with the general trend revealed by our PM meeting, the authority to take the necessary actions has been granted to the Central Executive Board and the Co-Chairs" were used.

The Party Assembly's stance on the local elections was explained in 10 points as follows:

1- The results of the 2024 local government elections will have serious political effects both in the region and across Turkey. As the decisive party in these elections, we are aware of our responsibility.

2- Turkey's problems can only be solved through negotiation methods. For this reason, we value dialogue and negotiations between political parties. We are ready to negotiate with everyone who bases their policies on local democracy, democratic consensus, free politics, universal human rights, and women's liberation.

3- With our ideological-political stance and political language, we resemble neither the status quo nor the restorationist line. The '3rd Way', which will weave the values of democracy, peace, freedom, and justice, is our main strategic line. The DEM Party sees itself as a party of struggle and negotiation. This path is not just a way to achieve gains in the election. This path is also the path to a democratic solution to the Kurdish issue, protecting the popular will against the seizure of municipalities by trustees, and protecting the people's jobs, bread, lives, and freedom against corruption and decay.

4- With the strategy we will follow, we will take back our municipalities where trustees were appointed in the 2024 local elections to be governed by the popular will once again. In addition, we will win the elections in many provinces, districts, and town municipalities that we did not previously govern, and we will save the people from corruption, rent-seeking networks, and those who deny our identity. To reach this goal, we will proceed by forming various collaborations and power unions under our party name.

5- In the west of Turkey, we see it as a priority task to meet, negotiate, walk together, and establish a 'City Consensus' ground that will weave a common struggle with all institutions, organizations, workers, laborers, ecologists, women, youth, peoples and faith organizations, political parties, labor and professional organizations, democratic and conscientious citizens, and all social parties and political actors that create and sustain the city.

6- We will play our role in growing a common, collective alternative understanding that will strengthen the local government understanding shaped by the popular, ecological, and women's liberation line, and all social and political dynamics that adopt this line, against the understanding that turns local governments into a center for distributing rent, especially including all components of the Labor and Freedom Alliance.

7- As any independent political party would do, our tendency to take part in city administrations with our own candidates and lists in the local government elections has been further strengthened by the discussions at our PM meeting. Our Party Assembly has emphasized that inclusive, participatory, transparent, and democratic candidacy processes with all our party boards are an important stage in the local election preparation work, and has highlighted the importance of continuing the process in a way that turns it into a festival of democracy.

8- Let no one have any doubt or suspicion that we will allow even a single equation to be formed that is not in the interest of our people. On the contrary, with the decisions we make and the strategic equations we establish, we will make all the peoples of Turkey win!

9- In the local government elections, in accordance with the general trend revealed by our PM meeting, the authority to take the necessary actions is granted to the Central Executive Board and the Co-Chairs.

10- The will that emerged in our Party Assembly will bring not just a success, but a great victory in the upcoming local elections. When we win, the oppressed, the laborers, the excluded, and the ignored of this country will win; cities will win. With these feelings and thoughts, we greet the peoples of Turkey and express once again our belief that we will definitely win.
