DEM Party Ipekyolu Co-Mayor Cevdet Altındağ has resigned from his post. The Peoples' Equality and Democracy Party (DEM Party) Democratic Local Governments Board issued a statement regarding the matter.
In the statement, it was noted that Altındağ has been receiving treatment due to health issues.
The statement, which conveyed that Altındağ's treatment process will continue, said, "As the Board, following the assessments and discussions we held with our co-mayor on this matter, we would like to inform the public that we have reached a consensus for our valued colleague to resign from his position as Ipekyolu Co-Mayor."

"During the past period, unfortunately, our co-mayor Cevdet Altındağ has experienced health issues and has been receiving treatment in this context. Due to the health issue in question, our co-mayor Altındağ has been unable to participate in municipal work and operations during this period. As a result of the evaluations made by his doctors regarding the process our co-mayor is going through, it has been stated that the treatment process will continue for a long time and that he needs to rest during this period. As the Board, following the assessments and discussions we held with our co-mayor on this matter, we would like to inform the public that we have reached a consensus for our valued colleague to resign from his position as Ipekyolu Co-Mayor."
