DEM Party's Cevdet Konak reveals: 'Communist Mayor' Fatih Mehmet Maçoğlu has multiplied Tunceli Municipality's debt

The current debt amount of Tunceli Municipality, which passed from the TKP to the DEM Party in the March 31 Local Elections, has been announced. It is alleged that former mayor Fatih Mehmet Maçoğlu of the TKP handed over the municipality, which he took over with a debt of 67 million liras, with a debt of 230 million liras. Maçoğlu, who made a statement on his social media account, announced that he would make a statement regarding the matter.

TKP member Fatih Mehmet Maçoğlu, who was elected Mayor of Tunceli in 2019, ran as a candidate from Istanbul's Kadıköy district in the March 31 Local Elections.

While Maçoğlu received 10 percent of the votes in Kadıköy, DEM Party candidate Cevdet Konak won the Tunceli Municipality.

The new mayor, Konak, announced the current debt amount of Tunceli Municipality, which passed from the TKP to the DEM Party.

According to the statement made by Konak, former mayor Fatih Mehmet Maçoğlu of the TKP handed over the municipality, which he took over with a debt of 67 million liras, with a debt of 230 million liras.

Konak provided information about the municipality's current debt, the real estate in its inventory, its vehicle fleet, and personnel distribution. Konak said, ’’As of April 5, 2024, our municipality's total debt is 230 million 673 thousand 692 liras. Our municipality's total income for 2023 is 188 million liras, and its total expenditure is 271 million liras. Personnel expenses account for 84 percent of our gross budget. 145 people have been hired within the last 5-year period’’ said.

STATEMENT FROM MAÇOĞLU

Maçoğlu made a statement following the news that he left the municipality with a debt of 230 million liras. Maçoğlu said he would make a statement regarding the matter.

Maçoğlu used the following expressions in the post he shared on his social media account:

''News is appearing in various press and media outlets that we took over the Dersim Municipality with a debt of 68 million TL in 2019, and handed it over with a debt of 230 million TL in 2024.
