DEM Party pays solidarity visit to CHP Istanbul Provincial Presidency
Solidarity visits continue following the police blockade of the CHP Istanbul Provincial Presidency building. A DEM Party delegation arrived at the CHP provincial building to issue a statement of support. The delegation included Istanbul Provincial Co-Chair Arife Çınar, members of parliament, and ESP Chairman Murat Çepni.

The DEM Party delegation, which arrived in front of the provincial building to support the CHP, reacted to the events. DEM Party Provincial Co-Chair Arife Çınar stated, “We are facing a trustee policy that has become systematic in Turkey.
There is no other way but to struggle together for democracy,” she said. DEM Party Istanbul MP Kezban Konukçu also remarked, “This operation against the CHP was not carried out against just one party, but against democracy itself.”
DEM Party Istanbul Provincial Co-Chair Arife Çınar, in a statement made near the CHP Provincial Presidency building, noted that trustee policies harm not only parties but also the public, saying, “We are currently near the CHP provincial building with our DEM Party delegation. Unfortunately, the building is under blockade and we cannot enter. We are facing a trustee policy that has become systematic in Turkey. Trustees harm not only those elected but also the will of the people."
Çınar said the following:
"This situation shows us the following: The absence of democracy means that peoples and faiths cannot live equally and freely. We will continue to struggle for the construction of democracy in Turkey and for peace to find life in these lands. We know that there is no other way but to continue the struggle for democracy.”
DEM Party Istanbul MP Kezban Konukçu also used the following expressions in her statement of solidarity:
“As the DEM Party, we were here last night as well. Our provincial chair and our MPs were in front of the barricades; only our MPs were able to pass. We are continuing this solidarity.
This operation against the CHP was not carried out against just one party, but against democracy itself. It is an intervention against the people's right to vote and be elected and their will. The AKP palace regime wants to create an environment without elections and without ballot boxes in order to institutionalize fascism.
We know very well that if we want peace, this cannot happen without justice and democracy. Peace, democracy, and justice cannot be thought of separately from one another. For this reason, we will always continue to stand on the side of democracy.”
