DEM Party proposes new member for commission

DEM Party Spokesperson Ayşegül Doğan made significant statements at a meeting held at the party's headquarters. Doğan proposed that participation in the National Solidarity, Brotherhood, and Democracy Commission be completed to 51 members and stated that they would nominate Istanbul MP Celal Fırat. This proposal came to the agenda following the IYI Party's decision not to participate in the commission.

Doğan also touched upon the report prepared by the Turkish Medical Association stating that Ayşe Barım "cannot remain in prison," emphasizing that the situation of sick prisoners must be addressed urgently. Furthermore, she voiced criticisms regarding the situation of Beylikdüzü Mayor Murat Çalık.

Stating that the DEM Party finds the work of the commission established in the TBMM valuable, Doğan expressed that such commissions cannot solve all problems on their own, but that important steps can be taken for social solidarity and democratization. Doğan said, "The commission's constructive work must encompass different segments of society and delve into the root causes of the problems."

Drawing attention to the importance of expressing different views in determining the commission's roadmap, Doğan said that as the DEM Party, they would do their best for a more democratic and equal Turkey. She also stated that the issue of how the state, the government, the opposition, and society will adapt to the new era should be discussed.

Finally, answering journalists' questions, Doğan announced that they would propose Celal Fırat if the memberships vacated following the IYI Party's decision not to join the commission are distributed among other parties. Emphasizing the importance they place on the principle of pluralism, Doğan said, "It is also important for Alevi representation to be included in the commission."
