DEM Party reacts to closed session

Following the statement by AKP Chairman and President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan that "Turkey is also among Israel's targets," the CHP had requested a closed session in the Grand National Assembly of Turkey (TBMM).

TBMM Speaker Numan Kurtulmuş made the statement regarding the CHP's request: "A closed session can be held regarding Israel's expansionist policies and the measures Turkey can develop."

In line with this, a closed session will be held in the TBMM General Assembly on October 8 regarding Israel's attacks and developments in the region.

During the session, Minister of Foreign Affairs Hakan Fidan and Minister of National Defense Yaşar Güler will provide briefings.

Peoples' Equality and Democracy Party (DEM Party) Group Deputy Chair Sezai Temelli made statements regarding the agenda at a press conference he held in the TBMM.

Reminding that today marks the anniversary of the Israeli attacks that began on October 7, Temelli said that nearly 42 thousand people have been massacred in Gaza and that a genocide is taking place.

Stating that nearly two thousand people have lost their lives in Lebanon as a result of Israeli attacks, Temelli said, "An Iran-Israel war is imminent. The region has turned into a place of fire, and the region does not know how to get out of this place of fire. If Turkey could have insisted on the resolution process, if we could have advanced the resolution process, if a democratic solution to the Kurdish issue could have been implemented, and if a politics of peace could have prevailed in the region, these reckless attacks by Israel could not have taken place."

"AS IF THERE IS SOMETHING HIDDEN"

Temelli reacted to the closed session to be held in the TBMM.

Saying, "They say a closed session will be held. They say we will be informed. As if there is something hidden. Everything is already happening in front of the whole world," Temelli continued as follows:

"The policy pursued by Turkey is also clearly evident. It is not possible to move forward with this policy. This is exactly where Turkish politics is stuck. This is also the most fundamental reason for the political crisis. This political crisis is not limited to the region. There is a political crisis and a war beyond our borders, but is everything rosy in Turkey? No. The impact of this crisis is present in every aspect of our daily lives in all its nakedness. Every day, we are actually, in one way or another, in the middle of a great war."

Sezai Temelli also reacted to femicides, stating, "Women continue to be massacred. Femicides have reached such a point that 292 women have been murdered this year. We learned yesterday that 6 women were murdered. After every murder, the explanation is: he was sick, he was drunk, he was angry. Women are not being murdered like this anywhere else in the world. That is why femicides in Turkey are political. When this male-dominated mentality, this mindset, spills onto the streets, it leads to the widespread occurrence of harassment, rape, murders, and violence against women."
