DEM Party spokesperson Ayşegül Doğan calls for 'seriousness' regarding the solution process

The DEM Party Central Executive Committee (MYK) met at the party headquarters. Following the meeting, Party Spokesperson Ayşegül Doğan held a press conference.

During the meeting, Doğan shared updates on current developments and the MYK agenda, and criticized the Ministry of Health for its handling of the 'newborn gang' scandal, stating:

"We are evaluating recent developments, but our eyes and ears are also on the newborn gang, which has once again emerged as a portrait of decay. This is not a scandal; we are talking about a series of murders. What has been reflected to the public is horrific. There are allegations that the investigation, which should have started in May 2023, has been neglected until today. We are following this incident closely. How many days have passed since the Narin Güran murder; has it been clarified? No. What happened to Rojin Kabaiş, or Şeyma? As long as these questions remain unanswered, none of us can feel safe. These events are emerging as part of the health transformation program. We also ask the Minister of Health: What does he say to the allegations that he did not approach complaints with diligence and neglected them during his time as the Provincial Health Director?"

Doğan, who emphasized that the Kurdish issue requires seriousness, stated that it is necessary to learn from the past and say new things.

We are before you after an MYK meeting for the first time since the developments on October 1. We are fighting for a possible realistic, permanent peace. For the democratic resolution of the Kurdish issue. The resolution of this issue did not just come onto our agenda as of October 1. The Kurdish issue is one of our biggest and most fundamental issues. Good intentions and sincerity are very important for its resolution, but they are insufficient. Seriousness, a profound and historical approach is required. It is necessary to learn from the past and say new things. If a democratic solution to the Kurdish issue is not achieved, neither the economy nor democracy can develop in Turkey. The Kurdish issue is not a security problem; it is a democracy problem, an identity problem. We cannot solve the democracy problem without solving this. While war is growing in the Middle East, there is no other way than to solve the Kurdish issue through democratic and negotiation-based means. We made these warnings before this war grew.

"DIFFERENT VOICES ARE EMERGING FROM THE PEOPLE'S ALLIANCE"

Is there a solution or not? We are facing some attitudes aimed at softening the political climate. But we cannot define this as a solution process. We define it as a series of discussions that have started regarding the Kurdish issue. The social and political opposition will decide what this will evolve into. It is possible with everyone who wants and demands a democratic solution and feels uncomfortable with the current state taking responsibility. We have always said that we are ready to do our part for a solution and for it to evolve into a process. Different voices are emerging from the People's Alliance, but on the other hand, some are showing the audacity to wag their fingers. It is difficult for us to comment on the intentions of the ruling wing. Everything is happening in front of the public. We are watching, and our boards are evaluating.
