DEM Party statement on Ahmet Özer: "The detention of Ahmet Özer, elected through a 'city consensus,' is no coincidence"

CHP Esenyurt Mayor Ahmet Özer was detained at his home this morning, and an investigation has been launched against him for the crime of 'being a member of the PKK/KCK armed terrorist organization.'

The detained CHP Esenyurt Mayor Ahmet Özer had been supported by the DEM Party during the local elections through a 'city consensus' agreement.

The first reaction to the matter has come from the DEM Party. 

In a statement made on her X account, DEM Party spokesperson Ayşegül Doğan stated, 'These methods must be abandoned to allow for an unbiased assessment.'

'This attack on the Esenyurt Municipality must end, and Esenyurt Mayor Ahmet Özer must be released. No one should remain a spectator to this usurpation of the popular will.'
