In Bitlis, DEM Party Tatvan Municipality Co-Mayor Mümin Erol has been detained on allegations of 'insulting the president.'
Mümin Erol, who was detained at the municipal building, is currently undergoing questioning at the police station.
No official statement has been made regarding the detention yet.
On the other hand, Tatvan Municipality Co-Mayor Mümin Erol, whose municipality passed from the AKP to the DEM Party in the March 31 Local Elections, had removed the photograph of President and AKP Chairman Recep Tayyip Erdoğan from his office on the day he took office after receiving his certificate of election.
Footage of the incident in question was later published on some news websites and social media accounts.
Following this, the Tatvan Chief Public Prosecutor's Office had launched an ex officio investigation against Erol for the crime of 'insulting the president.'
