ELECTION TO BE HELD ON JUNE 3

The Grand National Assembly of Turkey (TBMM) began the election process on May 28. Following the applications received during the first five days of the election process, an election will be held via secret ballot on June 3 to determine the new Speaker of Parliament.

To be elected Speaker of the TBMM, a candidate must receive 400 votes, which is two-thirds of the total number of 600 parliamentary members, in the first two rounds. In the third round, the candidate who receives the absolute majority of the total number of members, which is 301, will be elected speaker.
