DEM Party's 'Sinan Ateş' retort to Bahçeli! 'The junior partner of the government...'

Peoples' Equality and Democracy Party (DEM Party) Co-Chair Tülay Hatimoğulları spoke at her party's group meeting.

Addressing Devlet Bahçeli, who defended the trustee appointed to the Hakkari Municipality, Hatimoğulları said, "Explain the Sinan Ateş murder first."

Hatimoğulları's speech is as follows:

"The junior partner of the government came out and spoke about us for hours, as Bahçeli cannot stand a day without insulting the DEM Party, the Kurdish people, the democratic forces in this country, leftists, and revolutionaries. There isn't even a speech where he doesn't use insults. That language and that tone do not suit this podium. I want to underline this specifically. And he says it is 'legal' for the trustee. He is demagoguing over democracy and trying to give a lesson in democracy. Oh junior partner, oh AKP's trustee partner, if it were up to you, you would even close the Constitutional Court; what democracy, what human rights, how can you even utter these words? How can you talk about these things as an understanding that is so far removed from them?

Instead of throwing barbs at us, instead of insulting us, instead of trying to legitimize the trustee, instead of going so far as to say it is legal, instead of saying this while trampling on the laws, what you should do is come out and explain the Sinan Ateş murder. This dark structure, meaning you, can never talk about democracy."

MHP Chairman Devlet Bahçeli had stated the following regarding the ongoing trustee debates at his party's group meeting: "Those who chew the trustee literature like gum in their mouths should not forget that the removal of terrorists from office is the honor, the dignity, and the soul of a state of law. Turning a blind eye to betrayal is not democracy. Conversely, opposing the appointment of a trustee is not being democratic at all."
